LESSONS

OUR PHILOSOPHY ON LESSONS

Riding starts from the ground up, and encompasses more than just riding instruction. Grooming, for example, helps to develop a rapport and an understanding between rider and horse.

We have developed the Core Equestrian Technique which focuses on the foundational skills of riding, and builds in incremental steps. The skills that are learned help the rider gain the proper posture, balance, and nonverbal communication in order to develop a partnership with the horse.

Through partnership development other qualities may be gained: confidence, focus, discipline, independence, and leadership. Ultimatly, the by-product of accomplishment is self-esteem.

Altadena Stables offers riding lessons for ages five to adult. Whether you're a first time rider or an experienced equestrian looking to enhance your horsemanship and horse communication skills, our individualized instruction will help you to achieve your goals. Our program emphasizes the very best in safety, horsemanship, and good sportsmanship.

LESSONS

Lessons are by appointment only.

Monday through Saturday.

Lessons are $70 per half hour.

Payment options:  please call or email for payment options.

After the initial lessons, riders will learn to groom and tack the lesson horse. At that time riders will be expected to arrive 30 minutes prior to their scheduled lesson.

ATTIRE

Long pants and close-toed shoes are required riding apparel. A riding helmet will be supplied by the stable for first lesson. If the rider plans to continue with lessons, they are required to purchase riding boots, pants, and helmet.

Please inquire at the time of the lesson for referrals on local tack stores.
